The Atomos Ninja Video Hard Disk Recorder is a portable, intuitive touchscreen-operated HD recorder, monitor and playback device for professional media producers. It captures pristine 10-bit 4:2:2 video and audio direct from any HDMI source: DSLRs, decks, switchers, PC, Mac, iPad and iPhone. The Ninja-2 consumes very little power, ensuring long recording times (up to 16.5 hours on a 750GB disk) and the efficient use of batteries.

Capture content in real-time directly from the camera sensor and encode it to Apple ProRes or Avid DNxHD formats, eliminating the lossy, time consuming capture-to-edit process. Bypass the image-degrading compression of in-camera flash storage and use limitless and cheap storage on removable 2.5 inch hard disks.

The AtomOS operating system driving the Ninja-2 allows access to all functions through a fast and responsive touch-screen interface. SmartMonitor helps you accurately assess focus and exposure with focus peaking, adjustable zebra, false colour twin mode, blue-only exposure check and adjustments for individual filters. SmartLog allows you to get started on post-production in the field by logging and pre-editing your footage on the fly.

The Ninja-2 is built from aircraft-grade aluminium. It's light and can be mounted almost anywhere. All accessories come in a rugged case: batteries, chargers, disk caddies and a PC/Mac docking station.

Continuous Power allows you to unplug the depleted battery and replace it with a fully charged one without interrupting recording. The Ninja-2 comes with an AC power adaptor and two Lithium Ion camera batteries, which offer up to 10 hours battery life for continuous power on location and on the road.

The Marshall Electronics V-LCD56MD 5.6" HDMI On-Camera Monitor is a 1280 x 800 high-resolution camera-top panel, equipped with IPS technology and an adjustable LED backlight, featuring 300 nit brightness, a 500:1 contrast, an icon-driven operating system, and advanced versions of many familiar features, (and a not-so-familiar feature: DSLR Ratio Adjustment).

Connections are on the rear panel and consist of an HDMI input and an HDMI output (and a micro USB port), with the input giving you 8 channels of de-embedded stereo audio. You can monitor the audio on-screen on a dual-bar Waveform display and with headphones via a stereo headphone output. The front panel has 14 buttons four of which are user configurable with 32 possible uses. For mounting, a 1/4"-20 screw-hole is available on every side of the monitor.

A polycarbonate coating protects the screen from scratches; a power supply comes included; and many different battery adapters are compatible with the monitor so you can work with most of the common batteries out there. (Please see specs for battery compatibility.)

DSLR Ratio Adjustment: Lets you scale video that does not completely fill the monitor's screen when connected by HDMI in "Record" mode on certain Canon DSLRs. You can scale DSLR video output, fill the screen, and eliminate black pillar bars with a variety of options to choose select, from Normal, to 3:2, 16:9, and Full Screen. DSLR Ratio Adjustment is programmable to one of the four user-configurable buttons on the front panel.

Waveform and Audio: The LCD56MD incorporates both a Waveform display and Stereo Audio bars. These may be displayed separately or together in any one of the four corners of the monitor. The Stereo Audio is de-embedded from either the input.

Zebra Clip Guide: The Zebra function visually filters parts of images under a Lower Threshold or over an Upper Threshold. Data on either side of the filters can be displayed with a custom color. Zebra can also be inverted to filter the area between the Upper and Lower Threshold. The color selected for the Lower Threshold acts as the color for all inverted Zebra data.

Input Crop with Auto Scaling: The Input Crop function selects the area of active video that you would like shown on the image display. Select the desired Input by accessing the Adjust option on the screen.

Custom Pixel-to-Pixel Panning: Lets you select a custom Pixel-to-Pixel zone and use the COLOR knob to move your selection LEFT and RIGHT and the CONTRAST knob to move UP or DOWN. The SELECT button locks in your selection.

False Color: Helps set camera exposure. As the camera Iris is adjusted, elements of the image will change color based on the luminance or brightness values.

Peaking: Helps get the sharpest possible picture. When activated, the internal processor will display a colored highlight on the screen where sharp edges appear. When the camera operator adjusts ("racks") the focus control / camera lens, different parts of the image will have these colored highlights. This indicates that this portion of the image is sharp or in focus. Final focus is achieved by racking the camera lens focus control back and forth until the desired portion of the image has the colored highlights.

Adjustable Screen Markers: A variety of screen markers in 4:3, 16:9, and full screen modes allow accurate monitoring of the different aspect ratios used in broadcast environments. User Markers allow for custom aspect ratio, cropping framing, now with a choice of four colors and variable width lines.

6 Custom Configuration Presets: Six User Setting Presets allow the user to save six system configuration files for later recall when needed. These configuration files will save 38 different parameters that can be adjusted by the user.

User-Definable Function Buttons: Four user-definable function buttons on the front-panel allow quick access to numerous settings and features including focus-assist, false color filter, aspect ratio, screen markers, monochrome mode, color temperature, delay mode, and more.

The Next Generation of camera top monitors have arrived with the advent of the new Marshall Electronics Modular design Camera Top Series including the V-LCD56MD 5.6 In., V-LCD70MD 7 In. and V-LCD90MD 9 In. monitors. Each of these models comes in a choice of three configurations.

The V-LCD70MD-3G includes the base unit with a preinstalled MD-3GE module providing an additional 3G/HD/SD-SDI input with loop-through. The V-LCD70MD-O version includes the base unit with a preinstalled MDO-3G module providing a 3G-SDI output converted from the HDMI input. Finally the V-LCD70MD base unit comes with no preinstalled module.

Modules can be added at any time in the field by you the user. The new modular design allows you the user to determine what I/O combinations you want. Building on the features that made the series famous these models add even more user friendly features.

DSLR Ratio Adjustment - Lets you scale video that does not completely fill the monitor's screen when connected by HDMI in "Record" mode on certain Canon DSLRs. You can scale DSLR video output, fill the screen, and eliminate black pillar bars with a variety of options to choose select, from Normal, to 3:2, 16:9, and Full Screen. DSLR Ratio Adjustment is programmable to one of the four user-configurable buttons on the front panel.
Waveform and Audio Clip Guide - The monitor incorporates both a Waveform display and Stereo Audio bars. These may be displayed separately or together in any one of the four corners of the monitor. The Stereo Audio is de-embedded from either the input.
Zebra Clip Guide - The Zebra function visually filters parts of images under a Lower Threshold or over an Upper Threshold. Data on either side of the filters can be displayed with a custom color. Zebra can also be inverted to filter the area between the Upper and Lower Threshold. The color selected for the Lower Threshold acts as the color for all inverted Zebra data.
Input Crop with Auto Scaling - The Input Crop function selects the area of active video that you would like shown on the image display. Select the desired Input by accessing the Adjust option on the screen.
Custom Pixel-to-Pixel Panning - Lets you select a custom Pixel-to-Pixel zone and use the COLOR knob to move your selection LEFT and RIGHT and the CONTRAST knob to move UP or DOWN. The SELECT button locks in your selection.
False Color - Helps set camera exposure. As the camera Iris is adjusted, elements of the image will change color based on the luminance or brightness values.
Peaking - Helps get the sharpest possible picture. When activated, the internal processor will display a colored highlight on the screen where sharp edges appear. When the camera operator adjusts ("racks") the focus control / camera lens, different parts of the image will have these colored highlights. This indicates that this portion of the image is sharp or in focus. Final focus is achieved by racking the camera lens focus control back and forth until the desired portion of the image has the colored highlights.
Adjustable Screen Markers - A variety of screen markers in 4:3, 16:9, and full screen modes allow accurate monitoring of the different aspect ratios used in broadcast environments. User Markers allow for custom aspect ratio, cropping framing, now with a choice of four colors and variable width lines.
6 Custom Configuration Presets - Six User Setting Presets allow the user to save six system configuration files for later recall when needed. These configuration files will save 38 different parameters that can be adjusted by the user.
User-Definable Function Buttons - Four user-definable function buttons on the front-panel allow quick access to numerous settings and features including focus-assist, false color filter, aspect ratio, screen markers, monochrome mode, color temperature, delay mode, and more.
Stereo Headphone Output - You can monitor 8 channels of audio from the HDMI input and 16 channels from the SDI input.

A high resolution 5" on-board monitor provides you with an accurate representation of what the camera is seeing, eliminating the need to mount an extra monitor. Touch screen controls - presented with large icons on an uncluttered interface - give you easy access to record and playback functionality as well as to the system's menu. Samurai makes it easy to go from the capturing to the editing process. Professional storage media like SxS and P2 are simply too expensive to "use and forget", which means that you're never free to just work as you want to. Samurai liberates you from the financial and operational constraints of expensive Flash media by allowing you to use cheap, commodity storage available in any computer store: massive yet inexpensive traditional 2.5" Hard Disk Drives (Spinning Disks) for most projects and Flash- based SSDs for rough-and-tumble use. Recycle Older Cameras: Samurai records direct from the HD-SDI output from your camera, so it doesn't care what format your camera is: whatever it receives through the HD-SDI connection it will record (with certain exceptions detailed on www.atomos.com). So if you've got an older camera with HD-SDI - just plug in a Samurai and bring it into the world of file-based production. You'll get better quality from your old camera than when it was new!

Continuous Power from Hot-Swappable Batteries: Powering video devices on location is no longer a worry because the Samurai comes with 2 batteries, each capable of a minimum of 2.5 hours, and a combined maximum of up to 9 hours continuous operation when fully charged, depending on codec and screen use. Samurai has two battery compartments but only uses one at a time and switches to the second battery when the first is depleted. Simply swap batteries on the fly without stopping the production!

Latching Batteries Safe and Secure: Batteries are held in place on the outside of the Samurai. To ensure that they never come lose, Atomos has designed an ingenious latching system that holds batteries in place securely, but releases them instantly if you release the catch.

Everything You Need: Samurai works right out of the box - you can be using it within minutes! Samurai is supplied with everything (except storage media which is cheaper to source locally) in a tough professional carry-case.
