Web Pricing - Why are the prices on this web site different from those in your stores?
Our stores are staffed with a wide variety of product specialists and support staff, each of whom make an effort to be responsive and pleasant to deal with. We're also able to provide a customer with any item from our inventory to inspect and test. The cost of this customer service is an increased overhead for our in-store prices, to pay for the store space, the training of our employees, and other considerations not present online. We're happy to offer reduced prices online and hope that you will be satisfied with your purchase no matter where you decide to buy.
The Bowens Gemini 500R 2 Light Kit, professional flash photographic lighting kit contains everything you need to start shooting portraiture in the studio and, with the addition of an optional Travelpak battery, Bowens studio quality lighting can go anywhere. Of course like all Bowens kits the 500R Tx/Rx kit offers exceptional value for money. Bowens standard features such as fast recycling (1.3 sec) and short flash durations (1/900s) are all here as well as a full 5 stop flash power range (500Ws-15Ws) digitally controlled by twin dials, one for stops and the other for 1/10th stop precision control. A switch controls the bright 250W modelling lamp which can be set to Full (100%), Proportional with the flash power, User defined or Off when required.
Each Gemini 500R flash head features a slot to plug in a Pulsar Radio Receiver Card which is included in the kit, the kit also comes complete with a Camera mounted Pulsar Tx Radio Trigger. The Pulsar Tx allows flash sync over 24 different radio zones, using four channels and six studio settings, enabling you to trigger individual light sources or combine them to fire all at once without ever leaving your camera position. The kit includes a 60x80cm rectangular Softbox with two layers of diffusion for a completely even spread of light with no distracting hotspots, together with a 90cm Silver/White Umbrella, perfect for portraiture and many still-life applications. The black cover can be simply unclipped and easily removed to leave just the white diffuser, you can then 'shoot through' the umbrella like a softbox. The inclusion of the Pulsar Tx Radio Trigger and Pulsar Radio Receiver Card coupled with the versatility of being mains (AC) or optional Travelpak Battery (DC) powered means that the Gemini 500R kit is one of the most popular professional flash kits available today.
The Gemini 500R can be powered from AC mains power in the studio and when you want to go out on location, your studio quality lighting can go with you too. Gemini lights can be powered by the optional Bowens Travelpak battery system which is able to provide power to two Gemini lights. Using the 500R with the Small Travelpak will provide up to 150 full power flashes per charge (Double that with the Large Travelpak).
These days unreliable sync cords are a distant memory for most photographers. Now you can also forget bulky radio receivers attached to your lights too! Thanks to the unique radio-card facility on the Gemini 500R flash. By simply plugging a radio receiver card into the slot on the back, Gemini lights instantly become compatible with the Pulsar Radio Trigger system. Because the radio trigger card becomes an integral part of the unit it is much more reliable than an external receiver which can only be as good as its cord connection. The built-in photocell on the Gemini 500R has a 'smartcell' option to enable pre-exposure flashes to be ignored. This feature can be used for exposure measurement and, or red eye reduction. The smartcell allows the Gemini unit to be synchronized to the camera shutter on the 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th flash as selected by you. For traditionalists who like to have a physical connection between the camera and light, the Gemini has a 1/4" jack socket and the low 5V sync-line means that your camera's sensitive circuitry is safe.
Bowens products have always been acclaimed for build quality and durability. The Gemini 500R is no different, the tough metal body protects the sophisticated circuitry and high powered capacitors from knocks and bumps which are only natural in hard working studios and during transportation. It is for this reason that Bowens lights are so popular in schools and colleges all around the world. In addition to the tough exterior, clever software takes care of the interior components as well as the user replaceable Flash Tube and powerful 250W Halostar modelling lamp. The 'Lamp Saver' function automatically dims the modelling lamp after a period of inactivity defined by you to extend the life of the lamp - this combined with the soft start technology built into the Gemni 500R means less money spent on replacing modelling lamps.
The ultra-compact transmitter with its discreet camera-hugging low profile ensures that photographers can shoot comfortably without their camera becoming unbalanced by unwieldy attachments. The Pulsar Tx features a unique new ‘click-lock’ system for attaching the unit to the camera hotshoe securely without the need for further tightening via a thumbscrew. The ‘click-lock’ holds the trigger firmly in place whether the camera is being used in landscape or portrait position – and there is no loss of connection, as with some heavier triggers. The lightweight Pulsar Tx weighs in at just 34g and is powered by a single CR2032 cell battery, the triggers power management system ensures long battery life by making sure that the unit is always in low-power mode until more energy is required.
60cm x 80cm (23.5" x 31") rectangular shape perfect for portraiture and product shots. For years, Bowens has designed and manufactured the industry’s finest range of professional softboxes. Now we have drawn on this considerable experience to create ‘lumiair’ the pinnacle in softbox design. Precision tension ensures the straightest edges delivering the perfect cut-off for fashion and portrait work while the optimum colour calibration of the reflective interior surface together with their shallow construction offer the highest degree of light efficiency. Add to this two layers of diffusion and you have a completely even spread of light, no more than 1/2 stop from centre to edge, with no distracting hotspots. Each Lumiair softbox comes complete with a simple zip-up carry case to ensure safe and easy transportation to location shoots. Lumiair professional softboxes include the main canopy, a rear cowell, front diffuser, internal diffuser, and support rods. Lumiair softboxes will accept our extensive range of ring adapters and so can be used with almost all popular flash systems.
This 90cm dual-purpose umbrella features a white interior surface backed by a removable silver fabric with a black exterior. This provides a soft but highly efficient bounced light source. For close-up lighting, the silver/black backing can be removed, allowing you to get closer to your subject by lighting through the umbrella like a softbox.
