The Austin Rig Camera Support V2 by JAG35 is a compact, full-featured, offset shoulder rig that excels for the shooter who uses the rear screen on the camera for monitoring and who operates the follow-focus themselves while shooting. The Austin Rig also features JAG35’s double-offset counter weight system that provides exceptional roll axis balance and stability.
The Austin Rig v2 was inspired buy a recent trip to the SXSW Festival, looking for more options in rigs that are easy to travel with, Jehu took it to himself to design a rig that offered many options but still kept size and weight o a minimum. The Austin Rig is a balance between some the small rigs such as the Field runner, and the much larger rigs such as the Full Shoulder, giving you a medium sized rig, that offers the best of both worlds. Featuring the popular offset design found in many of our other designs, the Austin Rig puts the cameras LCD screen and viewfinder right in front of the shooters face, giving them full view of what they are shooting. The Austin Rig also features JAG35’s double-offset counter weight system that provides exceptional roll axis balance and stability. Giving the Austin Rig the ability to be used with only one hand also frees up the shooter to conveniently operate a follow focus system.
JAG35’s unique double-offset counterweight system means that the rig stays balanced on the roll axis, even with the camera offset. You can reposition the counterweight depending on the size, weight, and configuration of your camera, so that the counterweight is inline with the shoulder pad or double-offset to perfect the balance for every configuration.
Better Than Ever
We’ve taken our Austin Rig and made it better than ever, upgrading all the components to our new version 2. Slowly we’ve been improving the way we manufacture and machine our products, resulting in a smoother surface and a allowing for a better fit with rods of any brand. Our Knobs are also now machined to get a tighter, stronger grip on the rods, meaning you can build the most rigid and durable rig possible. Many of the rail-blocks (for example the one attached to the shoulder pad) no longer require tightening 2 knobs for assembly. Switching to a single knob system makes assembly and disassembly quick and efficient, and also easier on your fingertips. The way we anodize our products has also seen an upgrade, we’ve improved our techniques resulting in a shinier, smoother, more even color, and most importantly a color that will withstand years of use and abuse, meaning your rig will keep its sleek and professional look for years to come.
