What another great semester. Samy’s Photo Camp debuted at two more new schools – Franklin Avenue Elementary and Good Shepherd Catholic School, in conjunction with two after school partners: Franklin Kids and arc.
It’s always fun starting at a new school – meeting all new kids, parents, and staff. Each school is unique and reflects its respective neighborhood. Franklin Avenue exemplifies the hip vibe of Los Feliz, while Good Shepherd shines bright on a tree-lined street of Beverly Hills. With LA’s consistently mild weather, Samy’s Photo Camp gets to explore the school campuses – searching out gardens and flowers for Nature Day, cool backdrops for Fashion Day, the best blacktop for jump-roping on Sports Day. We are honored to join these new school families and looking forward to lots of fun times ahead.
In the past seven years, Samy’s Photo Camp has had the privilege and honor of working with 17 schools and… we love them all!
At both Franklin and Good Shepherd, we filled (and exceeded) our max number of students - always a good start. At all my schools this semester, I met truly special, bright and talented kids, and was overjoyed to be reunited with dear alumni for the Advanced classes. Graduations boasted an awesome turnout from parents – the support and response at all the schools was positively heartwarming.
Some of my favorite moments this semester:
- Filming The Three Little Pigs ith our Advanced Classes. Quiet on the Set. Rolling. Action!
- World-class jump-roper Crystal wowing us with her skills at Hancock Park.
- Maximus’ likewise-impressive karate poses for Portrait Day.
- Our lively discussion about the power of photography at Franklin Avenue on Photojournalism Day.Can one photograph change the world? Yes it can!
- The scrumptious sugar cookies that appeared at Good Shepherd graduation – homemade by Isabella, age 10.Thanks, chef!
