Created in 2009, Samy’s Camera Photo Camp has taught thousands of students across Los Angeles. The afterschool course teaches fundamental concepts within different fields of photography, culminating in a gallery show of the students’ work.
Our after school program at Samy's Camera Photo Camp is back in full swing after summer break.
In the Beginners classes, students received their T-shirts and hats, got to know their classmates, and were introduced to class format and camera function. We discussed ‘what makes a good photo,’ thereby forming a base for our class vocabulary – composition, perspective, lighting, and more. Outdoors, creative assignments got everybody into the picture taking groove.
Advanced students took a pop photo quiz to review, played the Macro Mixing Bowl game, then headed outdoors to brush up on their Sports Photography skills - timing, pre-focus, and panning.
Both classes at Samy's Camera Photo Camp received a syllabus with all the fun ahead. Food and Macro Photography coming up for Beginners. Color gels, art filters, and black & white photography on the horizon for Advanced students.
