Canon has announced their new Canon 80D camera. Fans of the 2013 Canon 70D DSLR who are looking to upgrade will find the latest offering a natural progression. As will anybody looking to improve their DSLR photography skills.
The camera body of the new Canon 80D is reminiscent of the 70D with a familiarly comfortable feel and weight. Beneath the surface, there are significant upgrades to image quality. The new new Canon 80D carries with it a 24.2 megapixel APS-C CMOS image sensor as well as a higher speed DIGIC6 image processor. Resulting images are therefore of a higher-resolution than have been previously experienced within the Canon enthusiast line of cameras.
Focus is improved too with the inclusion of an impressive 45-point cross-type AF system. Photographers using the new Canon 80D will benefit from the improved Intelligent viewfinder that accomplishes approximately 100% viewfinder coverage.
Those interested in enthusiast level DSLRs with video recording capabilities will be pleased to learn that the 80D delivers big improvements from the 70D. It supports full HD 1080p video recording at up to 30 frames per second in the MOV format with ALL-l compression, or 60 frames per second in MP4 format with IPB compression. The new Canon 80D DSLR also features an HDR movie mode that is will assist in improving highlight and shadow detail in high contrast environments.
