Together We Rise is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization comprised of motivated young adults and former foster youth. Their vision is to improve the lives of children in foster care, who often find themselves forgotten and neglected by the public. Together We Rise (TWR) collaborates with individuals, companies, and community partners to bring resources to foster youth and use service-learning activities to educate volunteers on issues surrounding the foster care system.
TWR works with hundreds of foster agencies, social workers, CASA advocates, and other partners to bring our programs to foster youth across the nation. Their foundation provides thousands of foster youth across the country with new bicycles, college supplies, scholarship money, and sweet cases so that children do not have to travel from home to home with their belongings in a trash bag. Additionally, TWR connects foster-adopt families with professional photographers to highlight foster-adopt success stories, dispel negative stereotypes, and encourage more people to consider becoming a foster parent.
Samy’s Camera Outreach proudly offers our services to help Together We Rise in this endeavor. Recently, I photographed a family’s court adoption day at the Edmund D. Edelmen Children’s Courthouse in Monterey Park. What a beautiful day, full of so many smiles!
This lovely couple had three biological children of their own before opening their hearts and home to children from the foster care system. Here’s the day they finally finalized the adoption of their precious two-year-old daughter, who’s been with them since birth. Now they are in the process of adopting her little brother, too. What joy to see them completing their forever family of seven.
