Elizabeth Turk’s Shorline Project.[/caption]
On November 3rd, The Laguna Art Museum will host The Shorline Project, a 1000-person community project. Part of the museum's fifth annual Art & Nature program, the project is based on Seashell X-Ray Mandala Series, a body of work created by fine artist and sculptor, Elizabeth Turk. According to The Shoreline Project's official website, "the seashell mandala image has been transferred to the canopy of 1,000 umbrellas and lit by an LED shaft. These sculpted umbrellas will be carried by community participants along Laguna's Main Beach at sunset."
Samy's Photo School invites students to join photographer and SPS instructor George Simian to capture what is sure to be a stunning art event. Upon confirmation of event registration, students will join and be guided by Simian in order to, as viewed from the cliffs, capture one-of-a-kind images of a living, moving light sculpture.

About Elizabeth Turk:

She is inspired by the natural world, often referencing its myriad of elegant organic structures. Turk's work makes possible what seems impossible and, in the process, slows us down, to inspire a deeper understanding. Her work is incomplete until abandoned to larger environments, thus humbling the intensity of her creative focus.
In 2010 Turk was awarded a MacArthur Fellowship and the Annalee & Barnett Newman Foundation award. Her MFA is from the Maryland Institute College of Art, Rinehart School of Sculpture and her BA is from Scripps College. She has been represented by Hirschl and Adler, Modern since 2000, while exhibiting experimental concepts at other venues. In 2018 Elizabeth Turk established a 501c3 under the name, ET Studios. ET Studios is a non-profit group formed to create change through creative arts.
