Full frame and Super 35mm formats are available for 4K movie recording with full pixel readout in Super 35mm mode without pixel binning, allowing for 6.2x oversampling for 4K movies.

Effective heat dissipation for extended recording times - Heat from the image sensor, processor, and AI unit is efficiently dissipated to avoid overheating, partly due to a uniquely shaped graphite material in the stabilization unit. This allows effective heat conduction while letting the sensor, a heat source, move freely during stabilization for improved heat dissipation, enabling around 30 minutes of continuous 8K 24p (25p) 10-bit 4:2:0 video recording.
High reliability in challenging working environments - The a7R V is weather-sealed at all body seams, buttons, and along the battery compartment cover. A carefully designed lens lock button and cushioning around the mount also help keep out dust and moisture.
The new anti-dust system increases dust removal efficiency - An ultrasonic actuator causes the filter in front of the image sensor to oscillate at more than 70,000 cycles per second, effectively removing dust and particles from the filter surface. There is also a Shutter When Power Off function that closes the shutter for lens changes.
Durable magnesium alloy chassis, reliable mechanical shutter - A lightweight, high-rigidity magnesium alloy is used for the top cover, front cover, internal frame, and rear cover, with durable construction that keeps the camera operating smoothly in hard-working environments. A shutter unit with a fast-response motor minimizes mechanical shutter vibration that can cause blur while allowing high-speed continuous shooting at up to 10 fps. The shutter is quiet and has been tested for durability in excess of 500,000 shutter cycles.
USB PD (Power Delivery) supports fast charging - The a7R V supports USB PD (Power Delivery), allowing higher power to be supplied from an external source. A USB charger or mobile battery that supports USB PD can be connected to the camera's USB Type-C port, supplying power or charging the internal battery at three to four times the rate of the previous model.
Recycled materials - Sony is adopting non-plastic, recyclable, and plant-based packaging materials and using recyclable resources, including SORPLAS material, for the camera components, emphasizing durability and quality. This approach minimizes environmental impact without sacrificing performance or functionality.
